Why cylindrical roller bearings can only bear radial loads

time:2023-05-13   pv:7

Cylindrical roller bearings are generally only used to bear radial loads. Only single-row bearings with ribs on the inner and outer rings can bear small directional axial loads or large clearance axial loads.

Under normal circumstances, deep groove ball bearings or cylindrical roller bearings can be used for pure radial load requirements, while thrust ball bearings are only suitable for bearing an appropriate amount of pure axial loads, and one-way thrust Ball bearings can only accommodate bearing loads from one direction.

If it is a two-way thrust ball bearing or a two-way thrust angular contact bearing, it can bear axial loads in two directions. For example, if the bearing bears combined radial and axial loads, it is usually necessary to use angular contact ball bearings or tapered roller bearings.

If the load acts off the center of the bearing, an overturning moment may be induced. According to the manufacturer of stainless steel bearings, double row ball bearings can withstand the overturning moment, but it is recommended that you choose paired angular contact balls or paired tapered roller bearings, which can be face-to-face type, and back-to-back type is better. Of course, you can also choose crossed tapered roller bearings, etc.
